Funding Available for Missouri Aquaculture Producers

Deadline to apply is January 17, 2011

Today, the Missouri Department of Agriculture announced that USDA block grants are available for aquaculture producers who had losses associated with high feed prices during 2009. More than $225,887 could be distributed to qualifying Missouri aquaculture producers.

"We continue to do everything we can to support our state's agricultural producers," said Director of Agriculture Dr. Jon Hagler. This funding will help many aquaculture producers across the state recover from last year's high feed prices.

Applications and instructions are available online, and must be completed and returned to the Missouri Department of Agriculture no later than January 17, 2011.

On Sept. 15, USDA announced the availability of funds available to administer the 2009 Aquaculture Grant Program providing financial compensation to aquaculture producers. The funding will be distributed from USDA's Farm Service Agency and the Missouri Department of Agriculture.
