In 2020, Missouri was designated as a primary peanut-production state. In 2022, the Missouri Department of Agriculture entered into a Specialty Crop Cooperative Agreement with USDA to inspect peanuts. In 2023, the program inspected over 28,000 tons of Farmers' Stock Peanuts.

This service is implemented by the Grain Inspection Services program, through the New Madrid Service Point office.
