Military Appreciation Ceremony Held as Part of Homegrown Heroes Day at State Fair

Attendees at the Missouri State Fair, Sunday, Aug. 15, will have the opportunity to join Gov. Jay Nixon in honoring America's servicemen and express their appreciation for their sacrifice and dedication. A Military Appreciation Day Ceremony, scheduled for 1 p.m., will include remarks from Gov. Nixon, U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton and U.S. military leaders from the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as the Missouri National Guard. Ceremony participants will sign a Community Covenant proclamation, declaring Missouri's support for our military servicemen and women.

The ceremony marks the highlight of Sprint Hometown Heroes Day at the Missouri State Fair. Admission to the fairgrounds will be free to veterans, active-duty service personnel and delayed-entry recruits with appropriate identification. Admission for immediate family members is just $1 and discounted amusement ride tickets are available.
