Advisory: Dept. of Ag to Celebrate 10,000th Garden, Launch New Harvest for Hunger Campaign for Winter Months

Over 10,000 Missourians joined in the effort to get gardens growing throughout the state this year. The 10,000th garden in the 10,000 Garden Challenge was registered late last week. Tomorrow, Dec. 20, Director of Agriculture Dr. Jon Hagler will recognize the accomplishments of all involved in the Challenge, as well as the Columbia resident who will receive the tenth $500 gift card to Tractor Supply Company.

Representatives from the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the AgriMissouri program will also be joined by representatives of the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri for the launch of a new effort to contribute fresh produce and nonperishable food items to our state's food banks, pantries and other charitable organizations throughout the winter months.
